« A Story Device | Main | George Lohmann takes eight wickets in Test innings » French Riviera hit by Large Earthquake We received news today that the French Riviera was hit by a large earthquake, killing around 2,000. The Riviera city of Mentone was mostly affected in this disaster, shaking the ground and destroying buildings in the otherwise quiet beach community of Cape Martin. Due to the large spread chaos we are unable to provide accurate news on the ongoing rescue operations at this point. If you have any family or relations in the area, please be advised that telegrams might not reach them due to communication lines having broken. We will try to make contact with the affected area and report on any British casualties as soon as we can. ![]() |
